Cyber Cars
Cyber cars are vehicles on the road that have 100% full driving capabilities controlled by a central management system allowing someone to indirectly control the situation. In the early stages they are to be used in small or private grounds allowing you to transport people or goods around a small circuit. They will be designed to go at low speeds so that the effective and safety of the vehicles remains as high as possible at all times, in the near future you could see these cyber cars being manufactured with higher capabilities that will allow them to go even faster around a track making them more practical in today’s world.
They run in the similar ways to people movers or personal rapid transit vehicles but have the advantage when it comes to being able to run on any infrastructure, making them a cheaper and more flexible option.
What’s the point of cyber cars?
The main objective of having transport in the form of cyber cars is to reduce the amount of congestion and parking in busy cities, imagine being able to gain access to town centres cheap and not having to bother finding places to park. It will be more convenient for people as well as helping the environment when it comes to pollution.
How do cyber cars work?
There are a number of methods which these cyber cars can operate, the most common method is to use GSM or GPRS which will allow them to communicate to the users via the mobile phone network. The communication between the vehicle and infrastructure can easily be maintained using wi-fi.
How would they be used in cities/towns?
A lot of consideration has been put into the operation throughout cities and towns because they would need to be safety called for and depending on the amount of pick up points it may be a very costly to set up buttons like you see when you call for a lift in a building.
There have been rumours about being able to call them via a mobile phone which will be the easiest and more convenient method in busy areas.
Cyber cars and the environment
One of the main reasons that cyber cars have been brought into action is the fact that they will help the environment in a number of ways. As mentioned before they will be able to instantly reduce the amount of traffic and parking issues in busy town centres.
Not only that but these cyber cars will be able to run off batteries and electric motors so they will help with energy consumption. In the future there will be plans to make them rechargeable so that they will be efficient and easy to maintain.
What are the advantages of cyber cars?
Cyber cars will provide a great alternative to public transport that will have a minimal waiting time and a cheaper option. As they are pushed as the environmental friendly transport you can expect to see them being used more in the attempt to help save the environment. With the cars of the future there will be no need for breakdown cover.
